Innovation Rooted in Legacy: Hudl and Maradona Menotti Escuela Elevating Football Education in Latin America

Hudl and Maradona Menotti Escuela sign a multi-year strategic partnership to shape the future of coaching in Latin America

Maradona Menotti Escuela (MME) chose Hudl to bring elite performance technology to a new generation of Latin American coaches, combining football heritage with the tools powering top clubs around the world.

The school provides comprehensive coaching courses designed to equip aspiring football professionals with the skills, insight, and tactical acumen needed to thrive in the ever-evolving world of football management and analysis.

Its new name - Maradona Menotti Escuela - honors two iconic Argentinian footballing names that are synonymous with invention, creativity, passion, and game intelligence.

“As Jorge Valdano once said: “Menotti dignified with his ideas what Maradona defended with his left foot.” And that is what we teach: the perfect synthesis between clear thinking and the dribble that executes the idea. Between the collective idea and individual inspiration. With the ball at the centre. Always,” says Diego Tomatti, Director of Content at MME.

While staying true to their heritage, the institution is also embracing innovation, signing a new multi-year deal with Hudl to continue to modernize and elevate football education in Latin America.

“The partnership with Hudl marks a strategic step in our commitment to training coaches with modern, practical, and professionally-used tools of the highest global standard,” explains Tomatti.

“Hudl is a globally recognised platform known for its capabilities, and its integration into our programmes significantly enhances the educational experience. This collaboration allows students at the Maradona Menotti School to engage with technology currently used by top clubs around the world, creating a tangible connection between theory and practice throughout their academic journey.”

As the Official Performance Technology Partner for MME, Hudl will integrate their full ecosystem of performance solutions - including Hudl WyscoutSportscodeStatsbombInsight, and Hudl Signal - into MME’s official CONMEBOL-licensed coaching and physical training programs.

“We understand that Hudl is not merely a set of technological tools for analysing opponents or visualising data—that’s just a small part of its potential,” says Tomatti. “What truly interests us is how we can transform those tools into meaningful knowledge for coaches in training to build a richer, more relevant educational offering—one that’s firmly connected to the reality of the game. That’s why we integrate Hudl’s professional solutions across all our programmes.”

Given video and data’s essential role in modern coaching, MME will use Hudl Statsbomb’s industry-leading data in their academic programs, teaching students how to understand what the numbers mean in tactical, strategic, and human terms on the pitch. They will also benefit from Wyscout - the largest football video library in the world - to illustrate individual concepts and group dynamics from teams across the world.

Hudl Sportscode also plays a vital role in their educational courses, helping to prepare the next generation of coaches with the tools necessary to make data-driven decisions and thrive at the top level:

“Within our Educational Content Department, we use Sportscode to structure and organise the most representative plays, matches, and actions in football. Through our custom "code windows"—such as Menotti’s four key actions and core game concepts—we can select and manipulate specific scenes to build a unique, fully personalised video library tailored to the Maradona Menotti School’s style,” says Tomatti.

“It’s not just about showing clips; it’s about customising football through our own lens, so that future coaches and analysts can learn to observe and understand the game from a distinctive perspective—and, of course, draw their own conclusions.”

The importance of the MME being an officially-recognized CONMEBOL education institution cannot be overstated.

Authorized to offer the Confederation’s mandatory coaching licenses - such as the CONMEBOL Coach License PRO and the newly developed Physical Coach License - MME holds the highest accreditation to officially develop educational pathways, setting up students for success in the future.

“The CONMEBOL Physical Trainer Licence is part of an imminent transformation in South American football,” states Tomatti. “Soon, every member of a coaching staff who sits on the bench during a match will be required to hold an official licence.”

In response to this, the MME is developing a physical preparation programme, with Hudl and Hudl Signal, using WIMU devices, fully integrated into the course:

“We understand that physical performance in football cannot be separated from the technical, tactical-conceptual, and strategic aspects. Therefore, when we talk about physical performance, we don’t view it as an isolated aspect but as an essential factor within a global system.”

“Hudl Signal and WIMU play a key role in this integrated approach, as it allows us to analyse players’ workloads in a precise and contextualised manner. It’s not just about measuring efforts or distances covered, but about understanding how these metrics integrate with technical execution and decision-making on the field. This way, we can gather specific data on a player's physical load during a training session or match, and adjust efforts based on the needs of the game and the tactical demands.”

“This course doesn’t just prepare professionals to meet upcoming regulatory requirements—it aims to shape true football specialists, capable of reading the game both on and off the pitch, supported by solid theory, modern tools, and a holistic understanding of football.”

Hudl will also provide hands-on training and support, working closely with MME instructors to train them on best practices, workflows, and application of tools within their curriculum.

“Training and support from Hudl have been crucial for our School,” says Tomatti. “Hudl has not only provided us with access to top-tier tools, but have also worked closely with us to integrate them into our educational methodology.”

“As Director of Content, I particularly value how their technical team collaborates with our staff to develop materials aligned with the football philosophy we promote, making the educational use of platforms like Hudl Sportscode and Statsbomb easier. This not only enhances the student experience but also elevates the quality of our content.”

By partnering together, Hudl and MME are empowering current and future coaches, performance analysts and decision-makers through the combination of education and technology, giving the next generation a launch pad into the next stage of their careers:

“This partnership is not merely a technical upgrade—it’s a pedagogical opportunity,” Tomatti affirms. “It brings future coaches closer to the realities of high-performance football and encourages a more reflective, contextual understanding of the game, aligned with the demands of today’s professional football landscape.”

“We aim to establish ourselves as one of the most influential football schools, not only in Latin America but globally,” concludes Tomatti.

“And with this partnership alongside Hudl, that relationship takes on a new dimension: a promising and fascinating fusion that not only strengthens our educational offering but also sets a model to follow in the educational field around the world.”
